Infrastructure Modernization for the International Trade Administration (ITA)
The International Trade Administration (ITA) needed to modernize its digital infrastructure to better serve its global mission. Spanning over 30 websites and microsites, ITA’s legacy systems were siloed, costly to maintain, and lacked the resilience, scalability, and compliance posture demanded by modern federal IT environments. Mobomo led a full-scale infrastructure transformation, migrating ITA to a secure, cloud-native, containerized architecture while automating operations, improving security, and reducing long-term costs.

Mobomo led a full-scale infrastructure transformation, migrating ITA to a secure, cloud-native, containerized architecture while automating operations, improving security, and reducing long-term costs.
THE MISSION
Deliver a high-performance, FedRAMP-compliant infrastructure capable of supporting 220+ global systems with minimal disruption. The solution needed to increase uptime, simplify deployments, reduce cyber risk, and enable secure remote access for a distributed workforce.
OUR APPROACH
Mobomo re-architected ITA’s infrastructure using AWS and Azure GovCloud, deploying Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) via Terraform and Ansible and containerizing services through Kubernetes. Legacy ColdFusion environments were migrated to cloud-native platforms, reducing reliance on outdated technologies. To support scalability and governance, Mobomo automated CI/CD pipelines (AWS Code Pipeline, Jenkins), implemented Zero Trust security controls, and fully integrated Active Directory, Azure MFA, and AWS IAM for identity management. Mobomo also modernized IT service delivery by integrating AI-powered workflows into ServiceNow, reducing manual workload and accelerating incident response across ITA’s enterprise.

Cloud Migration & Infrastructure Modernization
Mobomo led the migration of over 220 systems and applications from legacy environments to a cloud-native infrastructure hosted across AWS and Azure GovCloud. Using Infrastructure-as-Code tools, the team automated provisioning and server builds, standardized configurations, and reduce deployment friction. Containerization modernized service delivery and allowed ITA to rapidly scale new environments. Legacy applications were replaced or re-platformed using scalable PaaS, IaaS, and SaaS solutions to reduce cost and increase agility.

IT Service Management & Request Resolution
To streamline service delivery and reduce response times, Mobomo implemented AI-driven automation within ITA’s ServiceNow ITSM platform. This included automated ticket routing, incident classification, and resolution workflows. Self-service portals were deployed for internal users, reducing the burden on support staff. Seamless identity integration via Azure MFA, Active Directory, and AWS IAM improved user provisioning and access control, while end-to-end performance monitoring enabled proactive support and issues resolution.

Request Fulfillment Metrics
Mobomo optimized request fulfillment by automating repetitive IT support tasks and integrating ServiceNow with enterprise identity platforms. Patch management and device updates were centrally managed through Microsoft Intune and MECM, ensuring consistency and eliminating vulnerabilities. The team also modernized telephony infrastructure across 50+ domestic sites by deploying Microsoft Teams Calling, replacing PBX hardware with cloud-based voice services.

Government Compliance & IT Standards
Mobomo built real-time compliance dashboards to track asset security and enforce federal IT regulations. Puppet and Azure compliance monitoring tools were used to automate server configuration validation and reduce unauthorized changes. The infrastructure was designed to maintain 100% compliance with FedRAMP High, DoD IL-4, NIST 800-53, and FISMA (even during audits and system upgrades) without any service interruptions. These capabilities enabled ITA to meet stringent security and reporting standards across its ecosystem.

Mobomo adopted a security-first architecture built on Zero Trust Principles. Azure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) was enforced across 3,000+ users, and automated patching workflows were implemented to eliminate security backlogs. Mobomo introduced automated incident response playbooks and AI-based threat detection, which dramatically reduced risk and improved time-to-resolution for high-priority issues. These proactive cybersecurity measures strengthened ITA’s ability to prevent, detect, and respond to threats in real time.
